Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

1,1,3,3 -Tetramethylbutylperoxyneodecanoate is hydrolytically and thermally instable. The Self-Accelerlating Decomposition Temperature (SADT) of the substance is 15°C and the half life in water is <24 hours at pH 4,7,9. In reality the hydrolysis is probably closer to 10 hours at an environmentally relevant pH but due to the variation in the measured results of the hydrolysis test 24 hours was chosen to allow for this variation. The analytical data in the ecotoxicity tests support these findings demonstrating that 1,1,3,3-Tetramethylbutylperoxyneodecanoate falls below detectable levels in test medium within 24 hours. With a detection limit of 3 µg/L and an initial (maximum achievable) concentration in test medium of approximately 20 µg/L. These measurements do not take into consideration the reaction with organic matter and metal ions that would take place in the environment with substances containing reactive peroxide groups.1,1,3,3 -Tetramethylbutylperoxyneodecanoate is therefore expected to degrade very rapidly in the environment.
