Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General advices: Remove any clothing soiled by the product.
Inhalation: Ventilate with fresh air. If irritation persists, seek medical advice.
Skin contact: Wash thoroughly with soap and water. If skin irritation persists, seek medical advice.
Eye contact: Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water for several minute and seek medical advice.
Ingestion: Rinse mouth with water (do not swallow). Only encourage vomiting if the casualty is fully conscious. Seek medical advice.
Notes to physician: Treat according to symptoms.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing agents: The product itself will not burn. Use fire fighting measures that suit the environment. Water spray, carbon dioxide or dry chemical.
Unsuitable extinguishing agents: Pressured water jet.
Special hazards caused by the substance or its combustion products: Hydrogen sulphide (H2S)and Sulphur dioxide (SO2) gas may be produced. Do not inhale explosion and combustion gases.
Special protective equipment for fire fighting: Use non-dependent breathing apparatus.
Additional information: Dispose of fire debris and contaminated fire fighting water according to official regulations. Prevent runoff water from entering drains if possible.
Accidental release measures
Person-related safety precautions: In case of dust formation use non-dependent breathing apparatus.
Measures for environmental protection: Damp down dust with pressured water jet. Contain contaminated cleansing water and dispose according to official regulations.
Measures for cleaning / collection: Remove mechanically. Avoid dust formation. Dispose of the material collected according to regulations.
Handling and storage
Information for safe handling: Provide suction extractors if dust accumulates. Avoid the formation and deposit of dust. Unavoidable dust deposits must be removed regularly.
Information concerning fire and explosion protection: No special measures required.
Requirements for storage and containers: Only store in original containers.
Information about storage in a common storage facility: Do not store in proximity to strong acids.
Further information about storage conditions: Store in a cool, dry place.
Additional information about design of technical facilities: Ensure good ventilation and extraction in the workplace. Threshold limits of dust must be observed.
Respiratory protection: Use respirator when dust accumulates. Short-term filter device, filter P2.
Hand protection: Neoprene, >480 min (EN 374).
Eye-protection: Side shield safety glasses.
Body protection: Light protective clothing.
General protective measures: Choose personal protective equipment according to activity and possible exposure. The chemical stability of the protective equipment has to be clarified with the manufacturer. Do not inhale dust. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
Hygienic measures: Do not eat, drink, smoke or sniff while working. Use a skin salve to protect skin. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.
