Description of key information

The environmental fate of naphthenic acids, zinc salts, basic in the environment is most accurately evaluated by separately assessing the fate of its constituents zinc cations and naphthenate anions. The concept of biodegradation is not applicable to zinc cations since metals are not biodegradable. Naphthenate can be considered to be readily / inherently biodegradable.
