A calculated Koc value of 235 L/kg indicates that the substance will have a low potential to adsorb to sediment/soil.

To assess the volatilisation potential of the substance a Henry's law constant was calculated which showed a value of 0.186 Pa.m3/mol (at 12 °C). Based on this value alpha-Terpineol will remain in the water phase and does not have a tendency to partition to air.

Based on Level III environmental distribution modelling using EPISUITE (assuming equal and continuous releases to air, water and soil) using the CAS number 98 -55 -5 and the measured physico-chemical parameters as input, it is estimated that the majority of the substance released to the environment will partition mainly into soil (73.9%) and water (25.9%) with small amounts to sediment (0.15%) and air (0.03%).

The SimpleTreat model, which is incorporated in EUSES, simulates the distribution of the substance in a Sewage Treatment Plant. Model calculations show that 85.4% of the substance will be degraded and that 12.4 %, 2.16 % and 0.073 % will partition to water, sewage sludge and air, respectively.
