Following the assessment factor method is suggested when the available data sample size does not allow for a statistical extrapolation approach. Long-term NOECs have been identified for two trophic levels, and the lowest NOEC was used for PNEC(freshwater) derivation using a safety factor of 50. For PNEC (marine), the PNEC (freshwater) was adopted due to lack of marine data. For PNEC(intermittent) the lowest L(E)C50 was used, and a safety factor of 10 was applied, according to the guideline in R.10, leading to PNEC(intermittent) lower than the lowest NOEC.
Conclusion on classification
The substance is readily biodegradable and does not bioaccumulate. The toxicity to aquatic organisms is characterised by LC50 values ≤ 1 mg/l, and therefore the substance is classified as H400: Very toxic to aquatic life.
The M-factor is 100, based on the toxicity with LC50 values of ≥ 0.001 and ≤ 0.01.
