Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

For gaseous materials, density is of value in determining the tendency to settle or to disperse when discharged at high concentrations into the atmosphere. The density of gaseous substances can be calculated from molecular weight using the gas law.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Relative density at 20C:
1.17

Additional information

The study does not need to be conducted if the substance is gaseous at room temperature. In this case, an estimation based on calculation shall be made from its molecular weight and the Ideal Gas Laws (d=MP/RT). This calculation gives the following result : 1.413 kg/m3at 20°C i.e a relative density of 1.17 at 20 °C (dair=1.2 kg/m3)

This result is confirmed from the data provided by USEPA publication : relative density of 1.17 at 20°C.
