Description of key information

The effects of the test item on the bacterivorous nematode Caenorhabditis elegans in a sediment system were determined in the year 2012. In this study the test item did not induce significant mortality of C. elegans at all test item concentrations after an exposure for 96 hours. Also, adult nematode fertility as well as nematode reproduction per inserted female test organism was not affected at all test item concentrations.
No reduction of growth was observed at all test item concentrations after four days of exposure to the test item compared to the control.
Thus, the Lowest Observed Effect Concentration (LOEC) concerning all test parameters was set at > 1000 mg test item/kg sediment dry weight. TheOverall No Observed Effect Concentration (NOEC) was determined to be 1000 mg test item/kg sediment dry weight. All effect levels given are based on the nominal concentrations of the test item.
