Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

The key study (Brunt 2003e) was conducted according to GLP and standardised guidelines OECD 406 and EU Method B.6, with a sufficient level of detail to assess the quality of the study. Ten test animals and five control animals were exposed to 25% v/v and 50% v/v concentrations of the test material in arachis oil BP. No signs of skin sensitisation were observed at either 24 or 48 hours post exposure. The study was performed to a good standard and was assigned a reliability score of 1 using the principles for assessing data quality as set out in Klimisch (1997).

Migrated from Short description of key information:
The skin sensitisation of 1-bromohexadecane was determined to be none sensitising in a key study which was performed in line with OECD guideline 406 and EU Method B.6.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The skin sensitisation study indicates that the test material has no effect which requires classification. Therefore the material does not require classification in line with Regulation 1272/2008.
