Description of key information

DBU does not significantly accumulate in organisms.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Bioaccumulation was investigated in an OECD 305C GLP study by MITI (2013; test performed in 1998). The test species was Cyprinus carpio. After an exposure of 6 weeks, a BCF value of less than 0.4 was determined for a concentration of 0.5 mg/L. The BCF was 3.6 for an exposure concentration of 0.05 mg/L. Though no detailed test report is available, all tests from the Japanese authorities are performed according to an OECD guideline and GLP incl. analytics.

DBU does not significantly accumulate in organisms.

This result is supported by log Kow data. The measured log Kow for the uncharged molecule (-0.42 at pH 12, 25 °C) and for the charged molecule (< -2.2 at pH 7.0, 25 °C; BASF AG, 1989, see IUCLID Ch. 4.7) indicate that significant accumulation in organisms is not to be expected.
