Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment
Administrative data
PBT assessment: overall result
- Name:
- Triethylene glycol dimethyl ether
- Type of composition:
- legal entity composition of the substance
- State / form:
- liquid
- Reference substance:
- Triethylene glycol dimethyl ether
- PBT status:
- the substance is not PBT / vPvB
- Justification:
PERSISTENCE ASSESSMENT
The registration substance is not readily biodegradable. It is inherently biodegradable, but failing the specific additional conditions described in the PBT guidance document. Therefore the 'vP' and the 'P' criteria of the vPvB / PBT Assessment is fulfilled.BIOACCUMULATION ASSESSMENT
The registration substance has a measured Log Kow of -0.52. Therefore the 'B' and the 'vB' criteria for the vPvB / PBT Assessment is not fulfilled.TOXICITY ASSESSMENT
For the aquatic compartment Triglyme the lowest ecotoxicity value is 320 mg/L (chronic NOEC (21d) Daphnia).
The 'T' criteria for Triglyme based on the lowest aquatic (chronic) toxicity result is NOT fulfilled as the
toxicity value of 320 mg/L is above the chronic toxicity criteria of 0.01 mg/L for the aquatic compartment.
Triglyme is classified as reprotoxic category 1B and therefore the ‘T’ criteria related to Human health toxicity within the PBT &vPvB Assessment is fulfilled.OVERALL ASSESSMENT
For Triglyme the ‘P’ and ‘T’ criteria are fulfilled but the ‘B’ criteria not. Nevertheless Triglyme is neither a 'PBT' nor a 'vPvB' substance.
