- Executive summary:
The short-term fish toxicity test was performed using a methodology equivalent or similar to OECD Guideline 203. Groups of fish (containing 10 each) were exposed to FAT 40045/C for 96 hours at following concentrations: 300 and 1000 mg/L After 96 hours of exposure, 10/10 and 5/10 fish survived at 300 and 1000 mg/L, respectively. Based on the findings of the study, the LC50 of FAT 40045/C in this short-term fish toxicity test was determined to be 1000 mg/L.

Description of key information
In the study designated as key, groups of zebrafish (containing 10 each) were exposed at test concentrations 300 or 1000 mg/L for a duration of 96 h. The number of surviving fish was recorded at 1, 4, 24, 48, 72 and 96 h. Mortality was observed only at the high concentration, with two fish dying within 48 h and 3 more within 96 h. Under the test conditions, the 96 and 48 h LC0 was 300 mg/L, whereas the 96 and 48 h LC50 and LC100 were both >1000 mg/L. The outcome of supporting studies available, also supports the conclusion that Reactive Blue 72 has low toxicity to fish when exposed for short term.
