Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
adsorption / desorption: screening
Data waiving:
other justification
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the physicochemical properties of the substance indicate that it can be expected to have a low potential for adsorption
other:
Justification for type of information:
NaHS and Na2S will not occur as such in the environment but will be hydrolyzed and/or oxidized, depending on the environmental conditions under consideration. Hydrolysis products (HS- and S2-) and oxidation products (e.g., sulfate) are expected to have no potential for adsorption, based on their negative charge. The third hydrolysis product, H2S, may be sorbed by soil or sediment particles to a certain extent but because the molecule is not positively charged only weak adsorption resulting from electrostatic attraction between negative binding sites and partially positive parts of the molecule may be observed. Considering all this, it can be concluded that no studies are needed for this endpoint.
