Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Based on read across to the corresponding substance with sodium as cationic part instead of potassium the melting range was determined to 165 - 170 °C; mean 167.5 °C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
167.5 °C

Additional information

In the non-GLP Klimisch 1 key study (Holzschuh 2010), the melting point of AEROSOL OT 100% SURFACTANT with contains >97% Docusate Sodium was determined. The test was performed using the capillary method according to EU method A.1. The melting range was determined to be within 165- 170°C. This temperature range was confirmed in the same study using the DSC method.

The experimentally determined melting range of 165 - 170°C is considered to be relevant and reliable for the further risk assessment. In order to provide a single value for the chemical safety assessment, the mean temperature of the melting range will be used for the further risk assessment, i.e., 167.5°C.
