PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF TEST SOLUTION
- Method: The test solution was prepared by adding the test item to the test media without any pre-treatment. Then, the fish were placed into the test aquaria.

The fish short-term toxicity of alcohols C13 -15 -branched and linear was examined in a study performed according to DIN 38412, part 15 (BASF SE, 1988). In this study, the 96 -hour LC50 in freshwater fish (L. idus ) was determined to lie between 5000 mg/L (0% mortality) and 10000 mg/L (100% mortality) based on nominal concentrations. The geometric mean LC50 is calculated to be 7071 mg/L. Although no specific measures were taken to account for the low water solubility, the absence of effects at 5000 mg/L is considered to be a sign of no toxicity up to the limit of water solubility. At the 10000 mg/L test concentration the observed effects are very likely to be due to the presence of undissolved test material.
