Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Determination of the Density

The density of the 90 % saturated aqueous solution of the test item in double-distilled water was determined in a preliminary measurement to be 1.002 g/cm3 (20.1 °C).

Temperature

The temperature of the test mixture during the measurements was 20.1 °C. The room-temperature during the measurement was 20.3 to 20.6 °C.

Validation

The surface tension of the reference item hexane was determined on 2011-03-15 with 18.28 ± 0.01 mN/m (20 °C) for the Ring (Nr. 1, RI 21. This value is in the range of tolerance of ± 1 mN/m acc. to the literature value of 18.42 mN/m at 20 °C.

Conclusions:
According to Regulation EC 440/2008 Method A.5 and OECD 115 the surface tension of a 90 % saturated aqueous solution mixture of the test item was determined to be 41.85 mN/m with a standard deviation of 0.03 mN/m at a mean temperature of 20.1 °C. Due to the fact that the surface tension is < 60 mN/m, the test item has surface-active properties.
