Long-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

Description of key information
Long-term aquatic toxicity testing in invertebrates was waived. According to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex IX, Column 2 , 9.1.6, long term toxicity testing shall be proposed if the chemical safety assessment according to Annex 1 indicates the need to investigate further the effects on aquatic organisms. Additional testing in invertebrates is not indicated based on the acute toxicity of 4-vinylpyridine (4VP). 4VP is classified as Chronic Category 2 and its release into the environment will be minimized.
