Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

There is sufficient information from experience in humans that PETMP is a skin sensitizer. This is corroborated by older guinea pig data.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
adverse effect observed (sensitising)
Additional information:

In clinical case reports in humans the sensitising property of PETMP has been demonstrated in occupational populations working regularly with the compound.

PETMP was identified as the sensitizing component in the Letterflex urethane photoprepolymer mixture (Malten, 1977a).

PETMP and 3-MPA were identified as sensitizing components in the Letterflex urethane photoprepolymer mixture (Malten, 1977b).

PETMP was confirmed as a strong sensitizing component in the Letterflex mixture in a GPMT (Calas, 1977).

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available
Additional information:

Regarding respiratory sensitisation, no evaluated testing procedures are available. Testing of the endpoint is not required according to REACh.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on sufficient human data on allergy cases and a high sensitisation rate in guinea pigs. Therefore, PETMP will be classified as Skin Sens. 1A. H317. May cause an allergic skin reaction.
