Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The dissolution/transformation study with P-slag showed that no significant quantity of potentially toxic elements will be solved in water, so there will not be any significant exposure of aquatic organisms in an aquatic toxicity study. Thus the equilibrium partitioning method using PNECaqua cannot be applied. Following the Integrated Testing Strategy (Guidance Document R.7c, figures R.7.11 -3 and R.7.11-2) P-slag would qualify as a Hazard category 3 (for persistence and no toxicity to aquatic organisms). Thus the ITS proposes a confirmatory long-term soil toxicity test. To evaluate the potential toxicity by oral uptake of particles mixed in the soil and without the prior knowledge on the most sensitive aquatic organism, it is proposed to perform a study on the earthworm Eisenia foetida. (The sensitivity for another taxon including an insect is foreseen to be tested in a sediment toxicty test). For terrestrial test organisms exposure will be both by the water phase and by oral uptake from soil. The results of the proposed tests with Eisenia foetida and the benthic insect Chironomus sp. will be evaluated to decide whether there is an indication that the elements are leaching from P-slag to a significant toxic level and more information is needed. In case more information would be needed, a test on plants and collembola is proposed. A waiver is prepared for the tests on microorganisms.
