Additional information

An Ames Test is available on the read-across substance (+)-Pseudoephedrin-HCl, where the tester strains Salmonella typhimurium TA 1535, TA 1537, TA 98 and TA 100 were used to examine the mutagenic potential of the test substance up to concentrations of 5000 µg/plate in a standard plate test a preincubation test with and without metabolic activation (OECD TG 471, adopted 1981, GLP, restrictions: only 4 tester strains used, no second positive control in addition to 2 -AA available). Neither cytotoxic nor genotoxic effects have been observed, thus the test substance possessed no mutagenic potential in the bacterial system used.

Short description of key information:
Ames test (according to OECD TG 471, adopted 1981, 4 tester strains, GLP): not mutagenic.

Endpoint Conclusion:

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data are insufficient for classification of the test substance as a germ cell mutagen.
