Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

HDI Uretdion hydrolyses rapidly at environmental relevant pHs and temperatures: After 1.5 hours at 50 °C no test item could be detected in a screening test. At all pH-values the half-time (t1/2) is below one day at ambient conditions (25°C) (Bayer Industry Services, 2006). Isocyanate groups disapperaed with a half life of 6.1h (Bayer AG 2000)
Main hydrolysis products are, beside traces of the corresponding diamine, insoluble monomeric and polymeric ureas.
Based on the determination of the Isocyanate function, the half-time of HDI Uretdion in the acetonitrile/water solution is approx. 6.1 hour at room temperature (23 °C) (Bayer AG, 1999).
