Description of key information

Phthalic acid is classified as a not readily combustible solid when tested according to UN Test Procedure N.1 (Currenta, 2010).
Pyrophoric properties:
In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, the study does not need to be conducted.
Experience in handling and application of the other tests shows that the substance does not ignit spontaneously on coming into cotact with air at normal temperatures.
Contact with water:
In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, the study does not need to be conducted.
No flammability in contact with water: The structural formula of the test item does not contain metals or metalloids (see Manual of Test and Criteria, appendix 6, section 5.3).

The substance is not extremely flammable or flammable as referenced by the flash point and auto ignition temperature.

The substance is not fammable in contact with water and has no pyrophoric properties.
