Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

General advice: Do not leave the victim unattended.
Protection of first-aiders: No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable training
If inhaled: If unconscious, place in recovery position and seek medical advice.
In case of skin contact: Wash off with soap and plenty of water.
If symptoms persist, call a physician
In case of eye contact: Remove contact lenses.
Protect unharmed eye.
Keep eye wide open while rinsing.
If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist.
If swallowed: Keep respiratory tract clear.
Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media
Unsuitable extinguishing media: None known.
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture
Hazardous combustion products: Carbon dioxide (CO2)
Carbon monoxide
Special protective equipment for firefighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus for firefighting if necessary
Further information: Standard procedure for chemical fires.
Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local cir-cumstances and the surrounding environment.
Use a water spray to cool fully closed containers.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Personal precautions: Use personal protective equipment.
Environmental precautions: Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.
If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.
Methods for cleaning up: Contain spillage, and then collect with non-combustible ab-sorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite)
and place in container for disposal according to local / national regulations
Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal

Handling and storage

Manufacture and use of this chemical intermediate takes place under strictly controlled conditions, as described in Art. 17/18 REACH. The substance is rigorously contained during manufacturing and use and appropriate risk management measures including PPE (i.g. during charging or sampling) are applied. Occupational exposure is reduced to a minimum and well controlled by measurements. A management system covering all general aspects of a chemical production is in place, especially cleaning and maintenance of plants and equipment. An authorisation scheme based on instructions covering the whole process ensures that only trained and authorised staff handles the substance.

Advice on safe handling: Avoid formation of aerosol. Provide sufficient air exchange and/or exhaust in work rooms.
Dispose of rinse water in accordance with local and national regulations
This substance should be handled under strictly controlled conditions as specified in REACH regulation article 17/18. Site documentation to support
safe handling arrangements in accordance with risk-based management system should be available at each manufacturing site. During the whole lifecycle
all necessary measures should be undertaken to minimize emissions and any resulting exposure.
Advice on protection against fire and explosion: Normal measures for preventive fire protection. Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and
sources of ignition.
Hygiene measures: General industrial hygiene practice. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.
Requirements for storage areas and containers: No smoking. Keep in a well-ventilated place. Observe label precautions. Electrical installations / working materials must comply with the technological safety standards.
Storage class (TRGS 510) 10, Combustible liquids
Further information on storage stability: Stable under recommended storage conditions.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters
Contains no substances with occupational exposure limit values.
Exposure controls
Engineering measures
Ensure that extracted air cannot be returned to the workplace through the ventilation system.
Personal protective equipment
Eye protection: Tightly fitting safety goggles
Hand protection
Wearing time: < 60 min
Material: Butyl rubber - IIR, Nitrile rubber - NBR
Remarks: After contamination with product change the gloves immedi-ately and dispose of them according to relevant national and local regulations
The suitability for a specific workplace should be discussed with the producers of the protective gloves.
Skin and body protection: Choose body protection according to the amount and con-centration of the dangerous substance at the work place.
Protective suit
Respiratory protection: if product forms vapour/aerosol.
Filter type: Combination filter, e.g. DIN 3181 ABEK
