Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The determination of the melting point of Acid Brown 161 was performed via DSC (differential scanning calorimetry).
A turbulent baseline with three endothermic events and rising of base line was detected.
Also the condensate and colour changes were observed in the pre-test.
Based on observations in the pre-test this was considered as decomposition, therefore the determination of the melting point of TCMTB pure is technically not feasible as the test item decomposes before melting.
The beginning of decomposition process was evaluated with the event marker as:
127.25 °C (400.40 K)
