Details on results:
The test item chromatographs as a series of peaks in the retention time range of 34 to 46 minutes. The longest retained reference item was DDT (log10Pow = 6.2), which eluted at approximately 9 minutes.
It was therefore concluded that although the method was not strictly applicable to the test item, as the retention time was longer than the retention time of that of the longest eluting standard assessed, the log10Pow value for the test item was greater than 6.2.
Conclusions:
The partition coefficient (log10Pow) of the test item, triglycerides, C16 and C18 (unsaturated), was determined be greater than 6.2.
Executive summary:

A study to determine the partition coefficient of triglycerides, C16 and C18 (unsaturated) was conducted according to OECD 117 and EU A.8 guidelines using HPLC method. The substance, triglycerides, C16 and C18 (unsaturated), is surface active as established from consideration of the chemical structure and as shown by direct measurement of the property. Although the experimental determination of the partition coefficient is not applicable to surface active materials an attempt was made to assess the property of this substance by the HPLC method since often the retention time of a material can provide a good indication of the partition coefficient. The test item eluted as a series of peaks with the retention time in a range of 34 to 46 minutes. The longest retained reference item was DDT (log10Pow= 6.2), which eluted at approximately 9 minutes.

The partition coefficient (log10Pow) of triglycerides, C16 and C18 (unsaturated) was determined to be greater than 6.2.

The study was conducted according to standard guidelines and is GLP-compliant and therefore is considered as reliable without restrictions.
