- The following is a summary of the sample behaviour during testing:

Replicate 1:

- Some condensation was observed around top of the flask at ~126°C

- A droplet formed on the wall at ~166°C

- Vapour formed in the flask at ~215°C

- The sample at bottom became wet at ~235°C

- Some bubbles at the bottom at ~251°C

- Vapour at top of condenser at ~265°C

- Chocolate brown semi liquid at bottom at ~271°C

- More of liquid seen rising up side of flask at ~328°C

- 90% of the sample remains solid at ~336°C

- Sample volume has risen to neck of the flask at ~343°C

- More chocolate brown semi liquid on wall at ~368°C

- Sudden formation of a lot of vapour at ~378°C*

 

Replicate 2:

- Some condensation was observed around top of the flask at ~ 122°C

- A droplet formed on the wall at ~161°C

- The sample on bottom became wet at ~258°C

- Vapour visible at ~273°C

- Some bubbles at the bottom at ~278°C

- Colour of semi liquid is sandy brown at ~285°C

- Volume of solid rising and vapour seen at top of condenser at ~293°C

* At this point during the analysis of replicate 1, the temperature started to drop and the sample volume decreased in the flask. The test was stopped at ~355°C, at which point the temperature was still dropping.

During boiling point analysis the Test Material changed colour, indicating that degradation may have occurred. A drop in temperature was noted, further indicating that degradation may have occurred.

Conclusions:
Under the conditions of this study the test material showed no definite stages of boiling behaviour; therefore no boiling point determination was made.
Executive summary:

The boiling point of the test material was investigated in accordance with the standardised guideline OECD 103, under GLP conditions.

The boiling point of the test material was determined in duplicate using the Ebulliometer method. 2 -propanol was used as the reference material with known boiling point to verify the procedure. A boiling point of 84.4°C was obtained (normalised for 101.6 kPa) which is acceptable when compared to a published value of 82.3°C at 101.325 kPa.

Under the conditions of this study the test material showed no definite stages of boiling behaviour; therefore no boiling point determination was made.

Additional information

The boiling point of the test material was investigated in accordance with the standardised guideline OECD 103, under GLP conditions. The study was awarded a reliability score of 1 in accordance with the criteria set forth by Klimisch et al. (1997).

The boiling point of the test material was determined in duplicate using the Ebulliometer method. 2 -propanol was used as the reference material with known boiling point to verify the procedure.
