FORM AS APPLIED IN THE TEST (if different from that of starting material)

OTHER SPECIFICS: N/A
Key result
Test procedure:
burning time (test type not further specified)
Burning time:
1 s

The flame of the gas burner ignited the test item pile. The test item melted and burned with a yellow flame and turned into a yellow residue. White smoke was observed. After removal of the ignition source, the flame extinguished after 1 second and no propagation of combustion was observed.

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
The test item is considered ‘not highly flammable’.

According to REACH CLP criteria (Guidance to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on classification, labelling and packaging (CLP) of substances and mixtures V4.1, ECHA 2015; GHS (4th Ed., 2011) the substance is "not classified".
Executive summary:

The test item was spread on a non-combustible and non-porous plate in the form of a rope of 250 mm length with a cross section of approximately 100 mm^2.

A flame of a gas burner was applied to one end of the test item pile until the test item ignited. The pile was visually interpreted for propagation of combustion either by burning with a flame or smouldering. If applicable, the time of burning over a distance of 200 mm was measured after the pile had burned a distance of 50 mm.

The test item is considered ‘not highly flammable’.

According to REACH/GHS CLP criteria (Guidance to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on classification, labelling and packaging (CLP) of substances and mixtures V4.1, ECHA 2015; GHS (4th Ed., 2011).  the substance is "not classified".

Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
Assessment under REACH Annex XI section 1.2 indicates absence of contact with water resulting in the emission of flammable gases.
Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
Assessment under REACH Annex XI section 1.2 indicates an absence of pyrophoricity.

Description of key information

Flammability: not highly flammability, EU method A. 10, 2017.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

EU method A. 10 - 2017.

A review of the structure suggests that there are no chemical groups present that would imply pyrophoric properties or flammability on contact with water. A review of handling and used implies no pyrophoric properties or flammability on contact with water. Based on the absence of structural alerts and experience in handling and use negative results are predicted for pyrophoric properties and flammability of contact with water. Based on the negative results observed in the flammability study using the solids protocol (EU Method A.10) it is considered not to be flammable.

Justification for classification or non-classification
