First-aid measures

General advice:

Remove contaminated clothing.

If inhaled:

Keep patient calm, remove to fresh air, seek medical attention. Immediately inhale corticosteroid dose aerosol.

On skin contact:

Immediately wash thoroughly with plenty of water, apply sterile dressings, consult a skin specialist.

On contact with eyes:

Immediately wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open, consult an eye specialist.

On ingestion:

Immediately rinse mouth and then drink 200-300 ml of water, seek medical attention.

Note to physician:

Treatment: Treat according to symptoms (decontamination, vital functions), no known specific antidote.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:

water, dry extinguishing media

Specific hazards:

Nitrous gases can be released in case of fire.

Special protective equipment:

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical-protective clothing.

Further information:

Substance is an oxidizing agent and can supply oxygen. The substance is soluble in water. Dispose of fire debris and contaminated extinguishing water in accordance with official regulations.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:

Avoid all sources of heat and open flame. Avoid dust formation. Do not breathe dust. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Use personal protective clothing.

Environmental precautions:

Do not discharge into drains/surface waters/groundwater. Contain contaminated water/firefighting water.

Methods for cleaning up or taking up:

Avoid raising dust. Dampen, pick up mechanically and dispose of. Correctly dispose of recovered product immediately. Do not discharge into drains/surface waters/groundwater.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Avoid dust formation. Avoid inhalation of dusts. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Processing machines must be fitted with local exhaust ventilation. Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking. Keep away from combustible material. Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

Protection against fire and explosion:

Contact with combustible material may cause fire. Has a fire-promoting effect due to release of oxygen. Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking. Keep away from combustible material. Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Respiratory protection:

Breathing protection if dusts are formed. Particle filter with medium efficiency for solid and liquid particles (e.g. EN 143 or 149, Type P2 or FFP2)

Hand protection:

Suitable chemical resistant safety gloves (EN 374) also with prolonged, direct contact (Recommended: Protective index 6, corresponding > 480 minutes of permeation time according to EN 374): E.g. nitrile rubber (0.4 mm), chloroprene rubber (0.5 mm), butyl rubber (0.7 mm) and other

Eye protection:

Tightly fitting safety goggles (splash goggles) (e.g. EN 166)

Body protection:

Body protection must be chosen depending on activity and possible exposure, e.g. apron, protecting boots, chemical-protection suit (according to EN 14605 in case of splashes or EN ISO 13982 in case of dust).

General safety and hygiene measures:

When using, do not eat, drink or smoke. Hands and/or face should be washed before breaks and at the end of the shift. Store work clothing separately.

Stability and reactivity

Thermal decomposition:

Nitrous gases can be given off if the product is greatly overheated.

Hazardous reactions:

Substance is an oxidizing agent.

The product is chemically stable.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

Dispose of in accordance with national, state and local regulations.

Contact specialized companies about recycling.

Contaminated packaging:

Dispose of in accordance with national, state and local regulations.

Contaminated packaging should be emptied as far as possible and disposed of in the same manner as the substance/product.
