Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

For this endpoint, the read across between PWH/ammonium and PWH/sodium salt is valid, therefore data from this latter dossier can be taken into account.

The read across justification is attached on section 13 of the dossier.

The substance Paraffin waxes and Hydrocarbon waxes, chloro, sulfochlorinated, saponified, in his commercial form (with the 20% of water) has a melting point of 30°C. It was very difficult to remove water ad obtain a dry sample. To have an indication of the thermal behaviour of the dry substance it can be referred to the analogous substance Paraffin waxes and Hydrocarbon waxes C14-17, chloro, sulfochlorinated, low sulphonated, saponified. This substance in fact doesn’t show crystallization phenomena until a temperature of – 50°C.

Paraffin oils, chlorosulfonated, saponified sample does not show endothermic reaction correlated to a melting transition, but degradation phenomena were recorded starting from ca 130 °C.

It is supposed that the ammonium salt has the similar physicochemical property, as reported in the registrant SDS (ca. 40 °C).
