The atmospheric pressure on the day of the test was 1037.0 hPa.

 

100% Methanol has a flash point of 12°C. If methanol is mixed with a substance with a high flash-point (which is expected for 100% pure test substance), the flash point temperature will rise with decreasing methanol concentration. The flash point temperatures determined are expected to be a result of the methanol residue in the treated substance after the pre-treatment step, and not the flash point of the test substance.

The lower flash point of the cooled down sample (test 3) is probably the result of the increasing methanol concentration in the time period between test 1 and test 3, due to the instability of the test substance.

 

In conclusion, the flash point of the pre-treated test material could not be determined. The measured flash points are a result of the amount of methanol released by decomposition of the test substance.

 

 

Conclusions:
Flash point temperatures of 53.3°C, 41.3 °C and 46.3°C were determined in a reliable study conducted according to an appropriate test protocol, and in compliance with GLP. The measured flash points are a result of the amount of methanol released by decomposition of the substance.
