Description of key information

Based on read-across from Lithium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide, the substance Sodium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide is not considered to have explosive properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

The determination of explosive properties of the structural analogue Lithium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (TFSILi) was performed according to EU Method A.14, under GLP conditions. TFSILi did not explode under the effect of a flame, was not sensitive to shock or to friction. Therefore, TFSILi had no explosive properties under the experimental conditions.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Lithiumbis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide has not explosive properties when tested accoding to A.14 Method; therefore, it is not classified neither under DSD, nor under CLP. For this reason the substance Sodium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide is also not considered to have explosive properties.
