Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

One key study is available to assess the toxicity of Chimexane HB to microorganisms. This respiration inhibition test was performed according to OECD Guideline 209 and EU Method C.11 with GLP statement. Test system was activated sludge of the municipal treatment plant of D-31157 Sarstedt. The test was performed under static conditions with the nominal concentration 10 - 32 -100 -320 -1000 mg/L, corresponding to 5.44 - 17.4 54.4 174 - 544 mg/L dry extract. One replicate was used for each test item concentrations and two replicates were used for control.

The respiration rates of control, reference (copper (II) sulphate pentahydrate) and test item concentration were measured after a contact time of 3h, and the inhibitory effects of test and reference were determined in comparison to the control respiration rate.

The inhibition ranged from 2% to 91%. The EC50 (nominal concentration) of Chimexane HB was 175 mg test item/L corresponding to 95.2 mg dry extract/L. The EC10 was 37.1 mg test item/L corresponding to 20.2 mg dry extract/L.

The concentration at 1000 mg/L foamed heavily during aeration. No information is given as to the means used to prevent this foaming. Results should be taken with care.

All validity criteria were fulfilled.
