Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2012
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
GLP compliance:
no
Key result
Test procedure:
burning time over 250 mm for metal powders or metal alloys
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

The test item was formed into a powder train. A hot flame from a gas burner with a diameter of about 6 mm was used to ignite the pile at one end. The preliminary screening test the substance does ignite by a hot flame from the gas burner but the combustion did not propagate along the train. The flame disappeared after few seconds. Therefore the main test was not performed.

Interpretation of results:
non flammable
Remarks:
Migrated information
Conclusions:
According to the definition in the Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008EEC the test item is not considered as flammable.
Executive summary:

In the non-GLP Klimisch 1 study from Bütfering (2012), the flammability of Reaction products of ricinoleic acid with 2-aminoethanol and maleic acid and sodium hydrogensulfite was determined according to EU method A.10. In the preliminary screening test the substance does ignite by a hot flame from the gas burner but the combustion did not propagate along the train. The flame disappeared after few seconds. Therefore the main test was not performed. According to the definition in the Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008EEC the test item is not considered as flammable.

This information is considered to be relevant and reliable for the further risk assessment.

Description of key information
