CHEP is a reaction mass of 2 -piperazine-1 -ylethanol (CAS 103 -76 -4), piperazine-1,4 -diethanol (CAS 122 -96 -3) and piperazine (110 -85 -0). Piperazine is assumed to be the most toxic constituent therefore the data for DNEL derivation is used from piperazine except data is available from reaction mass itself. An EU indicative Occupational Exposure Limit is set. Piperazine is a respiratory sensitiser, and the OEL is set to protect workers from sensitisation although there is no NOAEL determined for this effect. Deriving DNEL's from available NOAEL values gives higher DNEL values. Thus the OEL is used as a DNEL.
