Key result
Flash point:
49 °C
Atm. press.:
ca. 101.3 kPa
Remarks on result:
other: Mean of the two determinations

Results:

Pre-test:

The flash point of the test item was estimated at 48.0°C during the pre-test.

First determination:

The flash point of the test item was estimated at 49.0°C during the first determination.

An automatic correction was applied to the obtained result because the ambient pressure was not 101.3 kPa but 101.4 kPa.

With this correction, the flash point value is still 49.0°C at 101.3 kPa.

Second determination:

The flash point was detected at 49.0°C and the same automatic correction was applied because the ambient pressure was still 101.4 kPa.

With this correction, the flash point value is still 49°C at 101.3 kPa.

Interpretation of results:
Category 3 (flammable liquids) based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
The corrected flash point of REACTION MASS OF BETA-PHELLANDRENE AND D-LIMONENE AND L-LIMONENE is 49.0°C at 101.3 kPa (lowest value of two independent determinations).
Executive summary:

A study was performed to determine the flash point of the test item REACTION MASS OF BETA-PHELLANDRENE AND D-LIMONENE AND L-LIMONENE. The method followed was designed to be compliant with the Method A.9 of Commission Regulation No. 440/2008, ''Flash Point''.

The flash point of the test item is determined with a closed cup tester, by an equilibrium method called "Small Scale", (commonly known as Setaflash).

The substance is placed into a test cup and heated using a temperature gradient program. Ignition trials are carried out in order to ascertain whether or not the sample flashes at the temperature tested.

A pre-test followed by two determinations were conducted. For the pre-test, a flash point of 48.0°C was observed. This data was used to select the range of temperatures for the following determinations.

Determinations 1 and 2 both gave a corrected flash point of 49.0°C at 101.3kPa.

The corrected flash point of the test item was determined to be 49.0°C at 101.3 kPa (lowest value of two independent determinations).

Description of key information

The flash point of test item Reaction mass of beta-phellandrene and d-limonene and l-limonene was determined to be 49.0°C at 101.3 kPa.

The substance is classified as flammable (R10) according to Directive 67/548/EEC (DSD) and as flammable liquid cat. 3 according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flash point at 101 325 Pa:
49 °C

Additional information

The flash point of dipentene multiconstituent was determined in a study performed according to EU method A.9. Therefore, a reliability of 1 is assigned and the result of this key study is proposed as the end point value.
