Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Key study: OECD Guideline 209. GLP study. The test substance was determined to be not toxic to waste water (activated sludge) bacteria below a loading rate of 3.2 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
1 000 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
3.1 mg/L

Additional information

Key study: Experimental result on test item Condesation products of cyclopentanone and pentaldehyde, fractionation pitch:

The influence of the test substance on the respiration rate of activated sludge was investigated after a contact time of 3 hours according to the OECD 209 Guideline (GLP study). The test substance was determined to be not clearly loading rate related. All loading rates ranging from 3.2 to 1000 mg/L showed a statistical significant, not clearly loading rate increasing effect. The NOEC was below the lowest loading rate tested (3.2 mg/L). The EC50was above the highest loading rate of 1000 mg/L.
