Additional information

Due to the viscosity of the test item the density of Alkenes, C11-C14, hydroformylation products, distn. residues,

reaction products with maleic anhydride and sodium bisulfite, sodium salts could not be determined using the pycnometer method.

Therefore the study could not be performed in compliance with the guidelines. A preliminary testing for the practicability of the density test using the pycnometer method was performed for test item 'Alkenes, C11-C14, hydroformylation products, distn. residues, reaction products with maleic anhydride and sodium bisulfite, sodium salts' (batch: Rif. 7018) on 2012-07-04 at DR.U.NoACK-LABORATORIEN, 31157 Sarstedt, Germany. For this purpose 15.21 g of the test item was weighed into a 150 mL beaker on a KERN top pan balance and was kept for 20 minutes at 30°C in a LAUDA refrigerated circulator. During that time no significant changes in consistence could be observed visually for the test item. Even after further 45 minutes at a raised temperature of 50°C no significant change was distinguished for the appearance of this test item. Therefore, due to the paste-like consistence and the chemical heterogeneous properties of the test item the determination of the density using the pycnometer method is not feasible at temperatures up to 50°C. It is concluded, that under these circumstances it is not possible to fill the pycnometer completely with test item and free of air or gas inclusions, so that even the displacement method is not suitable for this kind of test item.
