During the preliminary test, the test substance was heated in the apparatus with a temperature rise of approximately 5 °C/min. The sample was stirred while being heated. The test flame was applied so that the flame was lowered into the vapor space of the cup in 0.5 seconds, left in its lowered position for 1 second, and quickly raised to its high position. The sample was not stirred while the test flame was applied. During the preliminary test, no flash-point was found below the boiling temperature. The preliminary test was repeated with the same result. The preliminary test indicated that the main study did not have to be performed. From this, it was concluded that the flash-point of CAS# 756-12-7 cannot be achieved below its boiling point.

The flash point of CAS# 756-12-7 using a Pensky-Martens closed cup flash point apparatus was not observed below the boiling temperature.
Executive summary:

The flash point of CAS# 756-12-7 was measured using a Pensky-Martens closed cup flash-point apparatus. The test substance temperature was 10.9 °C at the start of the first preliminary test and 11.6 °C at the start of the second preliminary test. Starting at 12.0 °C, a test flame was applied at each 2 °C temperature rise. Flash points were evaluated at an atmospheric pressure of 100.12 kPa. No flash-point up to the boiling temperature was found for CAS# 756-12-7. This study was conducted in accordance with European Community (EC), EC no. 440/2008, Part A.9: "Flash-point" and is compliant with GLP standards. Therefore this study is classified as reliable without restrictions.
