Main study:

During the first experiment an endothermic peak was observed between 50°C and 125°C. The extrapolated onset temperature of the peak was 80.61°C. Melting of the test substance was most likely the reason for the effect.

To investigate the melting peak of the test substance a repeated heating cycle at a lower heating rate was applied. With the first heating the extrapolated onset temperature of the endothermic peak was 80.05°C. The value was obtained at a heating rate of 5°C/minute. The similar value indicated that melting of the test substance was the reason for the effect.

During cooling exothermic peaks between 50°C and 100°C were observed. The effects were obtained due to crystallization of the test substance.

With the second heating an extrapolated onset temperature of 79.10°C was obtained. The results demonstrated that the endothermic effect was due to melting of the test substance. After the experiment, a violet molten residue remained in the sample container.

The third experiment was performed to determine the duplicate melting temperature of the test substance. The temperature program was similar as the program of the first experiment. Similar results as with the first experiment were obtained.

The melting temperature of the test substance is 81°C (354 K).
