Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure Details
Nature of work done:
Printing ink manufacture: Charging into a pre-mixing tank, operating beads mill, performing filtration operations, sampling for quality control, transferring materials from one work area to another, weighing, drumming, changing filters, cleaning equipment and containers, maintenance of equipment, disposal.

Printing ink application: Charging equipments, connecting pump lines, performing filtration operations, sampling for quality control, transferring materials from one work area to another, weighing, drumming, changing filters, cleaning equipment and containers, maintenance of equipment, disposal.

Prevention of worker exposure
The local exhaust ventilations are used during the operation. The workers use appropriate protective equipment:
Reformulation: gloves, safety glasses, dust protective mask
Cleaning: gloves, safety glasses, dust protective mask
Maintenance: gloves, safety glasses, dust protective mask
Quality control: gloves, safety glasses, dust protective mask

Recommended safe handling procedures
Prevent formation of dust.
Dust combined with air can form an explosive mixture.
Protect against electrostatic charges.

Stability and reactivity

The notified chemical has a low vapour pressure (<1.33x10-11 kPa at 20°C) and a low water solubility (0.71 mg/L), is not flammable or explosive, does not auto-ignite at normal temperature and is not reactive. In addition, the partition coefficient is high (log Pow > 6.5)

Disposal considerations

a). The chemical collected by local exhausted ventilation will be disposed of by incineration
b). Empty paper bags containing the chemical will be disposed of by incineration
c). The organic solvents used for washing equipment will be disposed of by incineration
d). The organic solvents used for washing ink containers will be disposed of by incineration. Empty ink containers after washing will be disposed of to landfill or be reused.
e). The organic solvents used for washing printer will be disposed of by incineration.
