Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
- General advice:
Move out of dangerous area.
Place and transport victim in stable position (lying sideways).
Remove contaminated clothing immediately and dispose of safely.
- After inhalation:
Move to fresh air.
Keep patient warm and at rest.
Call a physician or poison control center immediately.
- After skin contact:
Wash off thoroughly with plenty of soap and water,
if available with polyethyleneglycol 400,
subsequently rinse with water.
- After eye contact:
Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes.
Remove contact lenses, if present, after the first 5 minutes, then continue rinsing eye.
Get medical attention if irritation develops and persists.
- After swallowing:
Rinse mouth.
Do NOT induce vomiting.
Call a physician or poison control center immediately.
Fire-fighting measures
- Suitable extinguishing agents:
Water spray,
Carbon dioxide (CO2),
Foam,
Sand
- Special hazards caused by the material, its products of combustion or resulting gases:
In the event of fire the following may be released:
Hydrogen chloride (HCl),
Hydrogen cyanide (hydrocyanic acid),

In the event of fire and/or explosion do not breathe fumes.

Avoid contact with spilled product or contaminated surfaces.
Use personal protective equipment.
Remove all sources of ignition.
- Measures for environmental protection:
Do not allow to get into surface water, drains and ground water.
- Measures for cleaning/collecting:
Use mechanical handling equipment.
Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly, observing environmental regulations.
Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.
Handling and storage
This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates and, in case the substance is transported to other sites for further processing, the substance should be handled at these sites under the Strictly Controlled Conditions as specified in REACH regulation Article 18(4). Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each manufacturing site.

Exposure controls / personal protection
This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates and, in case the substance is transported to other sites for further processing, the substance should be handled at these sites under the Strictly Controlled Conditions as specified in REACH regulation Article 18(4). Personal precautions while handling the product:
- respiratory protection:
If product is handled while not enclosed, and if contact may occur:
Wear respirator with a particle filter mask (protection factor 20 conforming to European Norm EN149FFP3 or EN140P3 or equivalent.
- hand/skin/body protection:
Wear CE Marked (or equivalent) nitrile rubber gloves (minimum thickness 0,40 mm).
Wash when contaminated.
Dispose of when contaminated inside, when perforated or when contamination outside cannot be removed.
Wash hands always before eating, drinking, smoking or using the toilet.
Wear standard coverall and type 5 suit.
Wear two layers of clothing wherever possible.
Polyester/cotton or cotton overalls should be worn under chemical protection suit and should be professionally laundered frequently.
If chemical protection suit is splashed, sprayed or significantly contaminated, decontaminate as far as possible,
then carefully remove and dispose of as advised by manufacturer.
- eye protection:
Wear goggles conforming to EN166 (Field of Use 5 or equivalent).
- Hygene measures:
Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.
Keep working clothes separately.
Wash hands before breaks and immediately after handling the product.
Remove contaminated clothing immediately and dispose of safely.
Garments that cannot be cleaned must be destroyed (burnt).
Stability and reactivity
- Hazardous Reactions:
No hazardous reactions when stored and handled according to prescribed instructions.
Disposal considerations
During the whole life cycle of the substance all necessary measures in accordance to art. 18(4) of (EC) 1907/2006 are undertaken. The substance ishandled under strictly controlled conditions.
Waste air is being burnt.
Mother liquor and distillation residues are being burnt.
