Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Reaction mass of cerium dioxide and lanthanum oxide and lanthanum fluoride presents a melting point superior to 500 °C.
Data on constituents:
CeO2: > 400°C,
La2O3: > 400°C,
LaF3: 1427°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A GLP-compliant study, scored as Klimisch 1 and flagged as a key study, is available on the reaction mass; giving a melting point value superior to 500°C (Demangel, 2010).

Experimental data, scored as Klimisch 2 (Weissenfeld, 2006a, b), are also available on two of the constituents (i.e. cerium dioxide and lanthanum oxide); giving high melting point values too. Such an observation is consistently reported in various bibliographical sources (reliability 2 or 4) dealing with the three constituents.

All these data on the three constituents were thus selected as supporting studies.
