Description of key information

The 96 hour LC50 for sulphuric acid to bluegill sunfish was determined to be between pH 3.25 and 3.5, equivalent to 16 to 28 mg/L. No guideline was followed in order to perform the test. Nevertheless the study was considred as valid with restrictions because the study was welle documented and meets generally scientific accepted scuientific principles.

The results are taken from a published paper which looked at the toxicity of a number of acids, only the information on sulphuric acid is reported here. The study was conducted prior to the introduction of GLP and reconised test guidelines. However, the reported study details indicate that the study was conducted in a scientifically valid way and the results are considered to be reliable.
