Additional information

Stability

After evaporation or exposure to the air, the product will be slowly degraded by photochemical processes with OH-radicals. Due to the structural properties of the mixture, hydrolysis is not expected to be an important fate path.

Biodegradation

Biodegradation in water: An experimental study with the reaction mass was conducted to assess the readily biodegradability according to the OECD guideline 310. Predominantly domestic sewage sludge (adapted) were exposed to an initial test item concentration of 20.15 mg/l DOC for 28 d in a closed system under aerobic conditions. The degradation of the test item was measured as CO2 evolution over the time of the test. After 7 days 95.06 % of the initial amount were degraded and the 10-day window criterion was met. Therefore, the test item can be considered as readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria (Rhodia, 2009).

Biodegradation in soil: No study was conducted because the substance is readily biodegradable. In addition, the calculated Koc-values of the single components, namely cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone, adsorption to solid soil phase (e.g. clay) is not expected (range of Koc: 8.11 -15.15).

 Bioaccumulation

Due to the low logPow (< 3) of the single components of the reaction mass accumulation in organisms is not expected for the mixture.

Transport and distribution

Adsorption to the solid soil phase and evaporation to the atmosphere from water is not expected for the reaction mass. Due to the predicted log Koc-values < 3 of the single components cyclohexanol (log Koc = 1.05) and cyclohexanone (log Koc = 1.24), adsorption to solid soil phase (e.g. clay) of the mixture is not expected. Based on the values for the single components no evapuration for the mixture of both to the atmosphere from water is expected.
