Description of key information
The glycol ethers heavies is not expected to present a carcinogenic hazard. The material does not have a widespread and dispersive use. No consumer exposure is anticipated. Also, the glycol ether and sodium methanolate (methanol) components are of the mixture are all of low concern for carcinogenicity.

Justification for classification or non-classification
Based on a lack of carcinogenic potential for the components of the glycol ethers heavies mixture, it would not be rated as a carcinogen under either the EU DSD classification system (EU Directive 67/548/EEC) or the EU CLP classification system (EU Regulation 1272/2008).
Additional information
The glycol ethers heavies have not been tested for carcinogenicity. According to REACH, Annex X, column 2, a carcinogenicity study is not warranted since the test material does not have a widespread dispersive use and there is no evidence of frequent or long-term exposures. The test material is not classified as a mutagen and repeated dose studies with constituents of the mixture do not indicate hyperplasia or pre-neoplastic lesions.
