Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

One experimental study investigating the inhibition of the respiration of Reaction mixture of Glycerol 1,3- di(acetate), glycerol acetate and triacetin to activated sludge microorganisms is available (Roulstone, 2012). The study was conducted according to OECD 209 under GLP conditions using activated sludge from a sewage treatment plant treating predominantly domestic sewage. Three concentrations (10, 100 and 1000 mg/L) were tested in a range-finding test. No inhibition of respiration rate was measured after 3 h contact time resulting in a NOEC of ≥ 1000 mg/L. An increase of the respiration rate was measured instead in all treatments. Thus, it is considered justifiable that the range-finding study is sufficient and no definitive study is necessary. Reaction mixture of Glycerol 1,3- di(acetate), glycerol acetate and triacetin is not expected to exhibit effects on the microorganism community in sewage treatment plants and inhibition of the subsequent degradation process is not expected.
