Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Waived: Readily biodegradable, insoluble in water

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex VIII, the study does not need to be conducted if the substance is readily biodegradable; or if the substance is highly insoluble in water. The Natural Oil Monomer substance meets OECD criteria for ready biodegradability in the Manometric Respirometry test, and is insoluble in water. Testing need not be conducted. The primary components of NOM are low water soluble monomeric ester units. QSAR analysis for more soluble esters (i. e. methyl octanoate) indicate a half-life on the order of 7.3 years at pH 7.0 and 266 days at pH 9.0. Thus, hydrolysis is not expected to be an important process affecting the environmetal fate of the test substance.
