Administrative data

First-aid measures

- Inhalation: Move the person away from the contaminated area. Make the affected person rest. Obtain medical attention. Show the Safety Data Sheet to the doctor.

- Skin contact: Remove all contaminated clothing and footwear. Use appropriate protective equipment when treating a contaminated person. Wash with soap and water. Wash immediately and thoroughly for a prolonged period (at least 15 minutes). In case of inflammation (redness, irritation, ...) obtain medical attention. Show the Safety Data Sheet to the doctor.

- Eye contact: Immediately rinse with plenty of running water for a prolonged period, (at least 15 minutes) whilst keeping the eyes wide open. If irritation persists, consult a doctor. Show the Safety Data Sheet to the doctor.

- Ingestion: NEVER attempt to induce vomiting. Do not give anything to drink. If necessary seek medical advice. Show the Safety Data Sheet to the doctor.

- Further information: Place contaminated clothing in a sealed bag for disposal. Use appropriate protective equipment when treating a contaminated person.

Fire-fighting measures

- Extinguishing media

Suitable: Foam, Powders, Carbon dioxide (CO2)

Not suitable: None. If there is a fire close by, use suitable extinguishing agents.

- Specific hazards: Flammable. During combustion, toxic vapours are released.

- Specific fire fighting methods: Stay upwind. Evacuate the personnel away from the fumes.

- Protection of fire-fighters: Self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

- Personal precautions: Do not breathe vapours. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. NO flames, NO sparks. Eliminate all sources of ignition. Personal protective equipment: appropriate gloves, safety glasses, suitable protective clothing. Local evacuation is necessary (for people in close proximity to the spillage area).

- Environmental precautions: Contain the spilled material by bunding. Prevent the product from spreading into the environment.

- Methods for cleaning up

Recovery: Pump up the product into a spare container, suitably labelled, made of stainless steel. Keep the recovered product for subsequent disposal.

Neutralisation: If recovery is impossible or if the pools are too small, absorb with vermiculite.

Cleaning/Decontamination: Wash contaminated area with large amounts of water. Recover the cleaning water for subsequent disposal.

Disposal: For disposal of solid materials or residues refer to "Disposal considerations"

Handling and storage

HANDLING

- Technical measures: Earth the equipment. Vapour extraction.

- Measures: Avoid high temperatures. Smoking is forbidden.

- Safe handling advice: Comply with instructions for use (refer to technical sheet). Do NOT heat up. Do NOT spray near a flame or a very hot object.

STORAGE

- Technical measures: The floor of the depot should be impermeable and designed to form a water-tight basin.

- Recommended storage conditions: Store away from any source of ignition, in a cool well-ventilated area, the container tightly closed and dry, at temperatures not exceeding 60°C.

- Incompatible products: Refer to the detailed list of incompatible materials ("Stability/Reactivity").

- Packaging: Product must only be kept in the original packaging (Metallic drums).

- Packaging materials:

Recommended : aluminium, stainless steel.

Not suitable : Copper and its alloys, Tin.

Exposure controls / personal protection

- Engineering measures: Ensure good ventilation of the work station.

- Personal protective equipment:

Respiratory protection: When using a spray-gun, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus. In the event of insufficient ventilation: wear a self-contained breathing apparatus.

Hand protection: Protective gloves made of rubber. Use suitable chemical-resistant protective gloves (compliant with Standard EN 374-1). Protective gloves must be chosen according to the function of the work station: other chemicals which may be handled, physical protection necessary (resistance to cutting, puncture, heat), dexterity required. The selection of gloves must take into account the extent and duration of use at the workstation.

Eye protection : Safety spectacles.

Skin and body protection : Protective clothing.

- Collective emergency equipment: Safety shower, Eye fountain.

- Hygiene measures : Always take a shower after work. Do NOT drink, eat, smoke, or put on make-up in the workplace. Separate normal clothes from work-clothes.

Stability and reactivity

- Stability: Stable at room temperature.

- Hazardous reactions:

Materials to avoid: Reacts with strong acids, strong bases, strong oxidizing agents.

Hazardous decomposition products: On combustion or on thermal decomposition (pyrolysis) releases toxic gases (Carbon oxides (CO + CO2), Nitrogen oxides).

Disposal considerations

RESIDUES FROM PRODUCT

- Prohibition : Discharging waste into rivers and drains is forbidden.

- Destruction/Disposal : Incinerate at a licensed installation.

CONTAMINATED PACKAGING

- Decontamination/cleaning : Allow it to drain thoroughly.

- Destruction/Disposal : Incinerate drums and bottles at a licensed site.
