Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The dissociation constant of the substance is affected by its constitutents 2-(2-hydroxy-ethylamino)ethanol and 4,4'-isopropylidenediphenol. The pKa of 2-(2-hydroxy-ethylamino)ethanol and 4,4'-isopropylidenediphenol is in the range of 8.71 to 15.12 and, therefore, under environmental conditions only 2-(2-hydroxy-ethylamino)ethanol will partly be available in a dissociated form.
Formaldehyde and propylene dioxide do not contain any chemical moiety being capable to dissociate.

Additional information

As the determination of a dissociation constant for a UVCB substance might be hampered due to the complex nature of the substance, the dissociating properties can be described on the basis of pKa values of known constituents as well.

Therefore, the pKa values of 2-(2-hydroxy-ethylamino)ethanol and 4,4'-isopropylidenediphenol, being constituents with dissociating properties, were reported as representatives for the whole substance. Formaldehyde and propylene dioxide do not contain any chemical moiety being capable to dissociate. Therefore, no pKa value can be reported for that constituent.
