Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Inhalation: Move to fresh air. Oxygen or artificial respiration if needed. Call a physician or poison control centre immediately.
Skin contact: Immediately flush skin with plenty of water. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical attention if irritation develops and persists. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.
Eye contact: In case of eye contact, remove contact lens and rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention immediately.
Ingestion: Give several glasses of water. Never give anything by mouth to a victim who is unconscious or is having convulsions. Call a physician or poison control centre immediately.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed: Causes eye burns. Symptoms may include stinging, tearing, redness, swelling, and blurred vision. May cause drowsiness or dizziness. Elevated blood pressure. Increased heart rate.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed: An airway should be established. Monitoring of cardiac and vital signs is recommended, along with appropriate symptomatic and supportive measures. Gastric lavage may be indicated if performed soon after ingestion. Because atomoxetine is highly protein-bound, dialysis is not likely to be useful in the treatment of overdose.

Fire-fighting measures

General fire hazards: Dust may form explosive mixture with air.
Suitable extinguising media: Water. Carbon dioxide (CO2). Dry chemical.
Unsuitable extinguising media: None known
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: Hazardous decomposition products formed under fire conditions.
Special protective equipment for firefighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing.

Accidental release measures

Precautions for non emergency personnel: Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection. Do not breathe dust. See exposure controls / personal protection below for recommended personal protection.
Precautions for emergency responders: Use personal protection recommended in Section exposure controls / personal controls below.
Environmental precautions: Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Prevent spilled material from flowing onto adjacent land or into streams, ponds, or lakes.
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Do not sweep. Vacuum material with appropriate dust collection filter in place. Be aware of potential for dust explosion when using electrical equipment. If vacuum is not available, lightly mist/wet material and remove by mopping or wet wiping.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling: Keep formation of airborne dusts to a minimum. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Do not breathe dust. Wear personal protective equipment. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. See exposure controls / personal protection section for personal protective equipment.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities: Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place.

Exposure controls / personal protection

TWA (12 hrs) = 25ug/m3, TWA (8hrs) = 38ug/m3
Appropriate engineering controls: Open handling is not recommended. Use appropriate control measures such as fume hood, ventilated enclosure, local exhaust ventilation, or down-draft booth.
Eye/face protection: Safety glasses with side-shields conforming to EN 166.
Hand protection: Protective gloves complying with EN 374. Chemical-resistant gloves and impermeable body covering to minimize skin contact
Respiratory protection: Use a properly fitted, air purifying or air fed respirator complying with an approved standard if a risk assessment indicated that is necessary. Respirator selection must be based on known or anticipated exposure levels, the hazards of the product and the safe working limits of the respirator. Use respirators and components tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) or CEN (EU). If the applicable occupational exposure level (OEL) is anticipated to be exceeded, wear an approved respirator with sufficient protection factor to control exposure below the OEL.
Thermal hazards: Not available
Hygiene measures: Engineering controls should be used as the primary means to control workplace exposures. Follow good workplace hygiene practices such as washing hands after handling this material.
Environmental exposure controls: Not available

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: Not water reactive
Chemical stability: This material should not be packaged or stored above the following temperature: 120 °C. This temperature is based on a laboratory test (ARC) and assumes near atmospheric pressures and quantities of less than 500 kg (1100 lb) or 208 L (55 gal). For additional information contact the Chemical Hazards Laboratory.
Possibility of hazardous reactions: Hazardous polymerisation does not occur.
Conditions to avoid: None known
Incompatible materials: Strong oxidising agents
Hazardous decomposition products: Hazardous decomposition products formed under fire conditions.
