1) Preliminary test:

From the start of the measurement upwards the weight of the sample decreased significantly. At 61°C the sample weight had decreased by 25%. After the experiment it was observed that the test item was evaporated from the sample container.

2) Main study:

During cooling, no effects were observed which were associated with crystallization of the test item.

To further investigate the melting temperature of the test item, two subsamples of the test item were stored for 17 hours at -22.3 ± 0.7°C and for 18 hours at -82.4 ± 2.1°C respectively. It was observed after storage that the test item was a liquid (in both -20°C and -80°C freezer). According to this it was concluded that the melting temperature of the test item is < 80°C (<193K).

Conclusions:
The melting point / freezing point of dichloro trifluoro methoxy dioxolane was determined at < -80°C (< 193K) after storage in the freezer for 17°C at -22.3 °C and for 18 hours at -82.4 °C.
Executive summary:

The melting point / freezing point of dichloro trifluoro methoxy dioxolane was initially investigated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The test was performed according to the OECD Guidelines for the Testing of Chemicals no. 102: "Melting Point / Melting Range", July 27, 1995 and was GLP compliant.

During cooling of the test item (a liquid), no effects were observed which were associated with crystallization of the test item. Therefore an additional test was conducted in which two subsamples of the test item were placed in a freezer at -20°C for 17 hours and -80°C for 18 hours, respectively. It was observed, after storage, that the test item was a liquid (in both -20°C and -80°C freezer). Based on this results, it was

concluded that the melting point / freezing point of the test item is < -80°C (< 193K) under this experimental conditions.
